Grand Inauguration of UP Energy Expo 2026

Over 200 Exhibitors Set Up Stalls at the Expo

Lucknow.: The UP Energy Expo 2026 witnessed a grand inauguration on Thursday at the capital city’s Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. This three-day expo was formally opened on Thursday by distinguished guests through the ceremonial lighting of a lamp. The UP Energy Expo 2026 has been organized in collaboration with UPPHDCCI (PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry), First View, and UP NEDA.

The event is being conducted in association with ‘Invest UP’—an agency of the Government of Uttar Pradesh—and ‘SEWA’. It also enjoys the support of Signergy India, Icon Solar, KEI Industries Ltd., Salasar Techno Engineering Ltd., Polycab India, SAIL Industries, Radico Khaitan, Aram FinTech India, Synco Energy, and True Power.

Speaking at the inaugural session, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated that, under the leadership of Yogi in the state and Modi at the Centre, Uttar Pradesh has taken a monumental leap forward in the field of alternative energy. PM Modi has successfully showcased India’s leading role on the global stage in curbing carbon emissions. Through 5,000 companies, direct employment has been provided to over 70,000 people, while lakhs more have secured indirect employment. The installation of rooftop solar plants has resulted in the conservation of approximately 6,500 acres of land. In the month of April alone, UP set a national record by installing over 52,000 solar plants, thereby securing the top position in the country.

Pathak gave an assurance that if any policy changes are proposed with a view to promoting solar and renewable energy, the state government would certainly undertake the necessary amendments to its policies.

Dr. Ashish Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), expressed optimism that within the next 10 years, Uttar Pradesh would emerge as the nation’s leading ‘Energy State’. To this end, the UP government has entered into major contracts across the thermal, solar, hybrid, and solar-plus-battery sectors. To boost renewable energy in UP, plants for bioenergy and solar energy are currently being established. In this regard, solar energy policies are also being formulated. Goyal stated that UP possesses immense potential for solar energy generation. He called upon entrepreneurs to set up solar ventures, assuring them that they would receive the full support of UPNEDA, UPPCL, and the State Government.

Goyal emphasized that renewable energy represents the future of the nation. Efforts are currently underway—driven by renewable energy—to bridge the gap between energy demand and supply, thereby enhancing the country’s self-reliance in the energy sector.

Goyal noted that this year’s expo is far more comprehensive than that of the previous year. Previously, reports of power outages in the state frequently made headlines; nowadays, power interruptions are brief and infrequent. This remaining deficit, too, will soon be fully resolved.

There are 10,000 power transformers currently operating in UP. In the past, 5 percent of these transformers would burn out annually. There has since been a drastic decline in transformer failures, with the rate currently standing at a mere 0.5 percent. A 70 percent reduction in the damage rate of distribution transformers marks a truly remarkable achievement.

Ravindra Singh, IAS, Director of UPNEDA, urged for the widespread adoption of renewable energy to ensure that the state achieves self-reliance in the energy sector. He stated that, to date, over 500,115 rooftop solar plants have been installed across UP. These installations are collectively generating approximately ₹5 crore worth of free electricity. The establishment of these rooftop solar plants has created a cumulative energy generation capacity of approximately 1,700 megawatts. To facilitate this initiative, the Central Government has provided subsidies amounting to ₹3,038.08 crore, while the State Government has contributed over ₹1,000 crore. Vivek Agarwal, Co-Chairman of the PHDCCI Uttar Pradesh Chapter, highlighted India’s progress. He described India as a rapidly learning and adaptable economy, bolstered by a vibrant ecosystem of entrepreneurs and innovators. He further noted that significant opportunities exist in sectors such as green energy, fintech, and agro-processing—areas where the UK’s research prowess and precision can effectively complement India’s scale and skill base.
Rajesh Nigam, Co-Chairman of the PHDCCI Uttar Pradesh Chapter, stated that renewable energy represents the future of the nation. He encouraged attendees to make the most of the stalls and exhibits featured at the three-day expo. Although India is not an oil-producing nation, it possesses an abundance of alternative energy resources.

Parag Mishra, President of SEWA, remarked that this expo showcases cutting-edge technologies related to rooftop solar systems, large-scale solar projects, Commercial and Industrial (C&I) solutions, electric vehicles, smart grids, and energy storage.

Welcoming the visitors, Varun Gulati, CEO of First View, stated that through this annual expo, they aim to introduce the public to the latest advancements in solar technology, innovation, and new installations. He added that, through this platform, they have successfully achieved their objectives over the past two years.

Welcoming all guests and visitors, Atul Srivastava, Senior Regional Director at PHDCCI, announced that the three-day expo features over 200 participating companies from both India and abroad, showcasing the latest technologies related to solar energy, smart grids, and electric vehicles—including live demonstrations.

The second segment of the program featured four technical sessions. During the various panel discussions held on this occasion, more than 30 experts deliberated on the immense potential, challenges, and strategies for overcoming obstacles within the renewable energy sector. A large number of people continued to visit throughout the day to see the expo.
