Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the ‘Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Center’ established in Campierganj Range of Gorakhpur Forest Division for the conservation of King Vulture (Red Headed Vulture) not only in the country but also in Asia.
The date of 6 September is proposed for this. The foundation stone of this Jatayu Conservation Center was also laid by the Chief Minister on 7 October 2020. After inaugurating the Jatayu Conservation Center, on September 6 itself, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of five development projects worth Rs 634.66 crore in Sonbarsa village of Maniram area developed as Smart Village.
Everyone knows the story of King Vulture Jatayu since the Ramayana period, but due to environmental threats, the existence of Jatayu’s descendants came under threat. The Yogi government has resolved to overcome this crisis. For the conservation and promotion of King Vulture, Jatayu Conservation and Promotion Center has been set up in Campierganj (Bharivaisi) of Gorakhpur Forest Division. Through this center, not only will the number of king vultures increase, but eco-tourism will also get a boost due to the increase in the influx of tourists to see these creatures included in the endangered species.
The total cost of setting up the Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Center has been Rs 2 crore 80 lakh 54 thousand. In this, breeding aviary, holding aviary, hospital aviary, nursery aviary, veterinary section, administrative building, recovery aviary, guardroom, generator room, pathway have been constructed. A total of 8 staff are working in this center. A total of 6 king vultures (male and female) have been brought to the Jatayu Conservation Center. Here, the monitoring of king vultures will be done through CCTV cameras. According to Gorakhpur’s Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vikas Yadav, an agreement has been signed between the Bombay Natural History Society and the state government for this center built on five hectares of land. According to the action plan prepared by the Gorakhpur Forest Division, the target is to release 40 pairs of king vultures from this Jatayu Conservation Center in the next eight to ten years.
After inaugurating the Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Center, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate two development projects worth Rs 88 crore 46 lakh 98 thousand and lay the foundation stone of three development projects worth Rs 546 crore 19 lakh 11 thousand in a ceremony organized in Sonbarsa village.
The total cost of these projects to be inaugurated and laid the foundation stone is Rs 634 crore 66 lakh 9 thousand. The major project to be inaugurated includes the special two-lane rail overbridge of railway crossing number 6 located on Balapar-Tikariya road. Its construction cost Rs 84 crore 87 lakh 58 thousand.
The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the smart school and smart panchayat building built by GDA from the CSR fund of Hindustan Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited in Sonbarsa village. It has cost Rs 3 crore 59 lakh 40 thousand.
During the program, the Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the widening of Balapar.Tikariya.Gangi Bazaar road into four lane (cost 519.62 crores), upgradation of reporting police post Siktaur and construction of administrative and residential buildings for police station Siktaur Sonbarsa (cost 26.56 crores).
