Five Arrested Within 24 Hours for Stealing Split AC Units from Warehouse

Lucknow: In a swift breakthrough, the Hazratganj police in Lucknow arrested five alleged thieves within 24 hours of a warehouse theft, recovering 100 percent of the stolen property, including three split air conditioners along with their outdoor units.

According to police officials, the case was registered on April 25, 2026, following a complaint filed by Mohammad Naim Akhtar, a resident of Rama Vihar Colony under Sarojini Nagar police station limits. In his complaint, he reported that unidentified individuals had broken the lock of his warehouse and stolen three split AC units.

Acting promptly, the Hazratganj police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and initiated an investigation under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Shivam Pandey. The police team examined multiple CCTV footages from the surrounding area, which clearly showed the accused breaking into the warehouse and committing the theft.

Based on technical surveillance and inputs from informants, the police arrested five accused on April 26 at around 5:45 PM. The arrested individuals have been identified as Faisal (20), Manoj Rawat (22), Muqeem (21), Kasif (19), and Mobin (24), all residents of different localities in Lucknow.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they used to conduct reconnaissance of closed shops and warehouses and carried out thefts during nighttime to meet their expenses.

Following their arrest, the police recovered all three stolen split AC units along with their outdoor components based on the accused’s identification. Subsequently, additional legal provisions under the BNS were invoked in the case.

The accused have been produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.

The successful operation was carried out by a dedicated team from Hazratganj police station, including Sub-Inspector Shivam Pandey (In-charge, Narhi Outpost), Sub-Inspector Madhukar Singh (In-charge, Sultan Ganj Outpost), Sub-Inspector Aryan Nain (In-charge, Dalibagh Outpost), Head Constable Ramkesh, and Woman Constable Laxmi Yadav.

Police officials stated that the prompt action reflects their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of property in the city.
