Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Water Resources Minister Swatantra Dev Singh paid tribute to the legendary philanthropist Bhamashah, describing him as a timeless symbol of patriotism, selflessness, and generosity, during the Danveer Bhamashah Jayanti celebrations held at Hotel Renaissance in Lucknow.
The event was jointly organized by the National Jan Udyog Vyapar Sangathan and Udyog Samvad and brought together business leaders, social workers, and distinguished guests from across the state.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Swatantra Dev Singh said that Bhamashah’s unwavering dedication to the nation and his willingness to sacrifice his entire wealth for the welfare of the motherland remain a source of inspiration for generations.
“Bhamashah demonstrated that true greatness lies not merely in earning wealth but in using it for the larger good of society and the nation,” he said. Referring to Bhamashah’s historic support for Maharana Pratap, Singh noted that his contributions secured him an immortal place in Indian history.
The minister also emphasized the importance of organizational strength, saying that successful institutions are built by dedicated and accountable workers at every level. He encouraged traders and entrepreneurs to remain committed to both national interests and family values while promoting simplicity and ethical living.
Traders Feel Secure Under Present Governance
Speaking as the guest of honour, State Minister for Urban Development Rakesh Rathore said that traders, women, and citizens today feel more secure under the current administration. He highlighted that Bhamashah Jayanti is observed as “Traders’ Welfare Day” in several states, including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, reflecting the lasting significance of Bhamashah’s legacy.
Call to Include Bhamashah’s Legacy in Education
National President of the National Jan Udyog Vyapar Sangathan, Amit Gupta, stressed the need to introduce Bhamashah’s life and contributions into educational curricula. He remarked that while many young people are familiar with Maharana Pratap and his horse Chetak, fewer are aware of Bhamashah’s pivotal role in supporting the freedom struggle of his era.

Gupta also suggested that the highest tax-paying traders in every district should be recognized with a “Bhamashah” honour and that businesspersons actively engaged in social service should receive special recognition for their contributions.
Presiding over the event, State President Manish Agrawal raised the demand for establishing a dedicated office for the organization in Lucknow.
