Gonda: Children with disabilities studying in council-run schools across Gonda district will receive assistive devices according to their individual needs under the Inclusive Education component of the Samagra Shiksha programme.
The initiative aims to ensure equal opportunities for elementary education for every child in the 6–14 age group and remove barriers that prevent children with special needs from accessing education independently. As part of the initiative, an assessment camp was organised at the Block Resource Centre (BRC), Pandri Kripal, to identify the assistive equipment required by children with disabilities.
The camp was organised by Block Education Officer Anjani Kumar Singh with the support of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur, under the inspiration of the District Magistrate and guidance of the Chief Development Officer. District Basic Education Officer Amit Kumar Singh is leading the programme.
221 Children Participate in Assessment Camp
District Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Rajesh Kumar Singh said approximately 221 children from Pandri Kripal, Itiyathok, Jhanjhari and Mujhehna development blocks participated in the assessment camp. By the time of reporting, 215 children had undergone assessment.
The assessment was conducted by ALIMCO specialists, including P&O professionals Amar Bahadur and Abdul Rahman, audiologist Harendra Kumar Singh, data operator Harshit Tiwari and technician Gaurav Tiwari. Dr A.K. Gupta from the Community Health Centre was also present during the assessment process.
Based on the individual requirements identified during the camp, recommendations were made for a range of assistive devices, including tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, calipers, hearing aids, CP chairs and TLM kits. Braille kits were also recommended for visually impaired children.
Children who participated in the camp were issued slips confirming the recommended equipment. These slips will be used during the distribution process.
Free Distribution Camp on November 28
A follow-up distribution camp will be organised on November 28, 2026, where the recommended assistive devices will be provided free of cost to eligible children.
The initiative is intended to improve mobility, accessibility and participation in school for children with special needs, while supporting the broader objective of inclusive education under Samagra Shiksha.
Special educators Vinay Kumar Singh, Sunit Kumar Mishra, Ravi Pratap Singh, Sachin Pratap Singh, Amanjay Jaiswal, Animesh Chandra Pandey, Pulkit Shukla, Savita, Kumkum Chaudhary, Vijay Kumar, Satyadev Singh and Avinash Singh contributed to the smooth conduct of the camp. BRC MIS Coordinator Adarsh Singh also provided support in coordinating the programme.
