Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hoisted the national flag on Saturday at a grand ceremony held on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day at Reserve Police Lines, Prayagraj. The Deputy CM also toured the exhibition and stalls set up by self-help groups. Patriotic cultural performances by children on the occasion filled the atmosphere with a sense of national pride and love for the country.
On the occasion, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya greeted everyone on the 80th Independence Day and paid tribute to all martyrs and freedom fighters. He praised the exhibition based on the tricolour that had been put up for the occasion, and said the double-engine government is fully committed to fulfilling the needs of people across the country and the state. He recalled the contributions of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of the Constitution Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the great martyr-revolutionaries Chandrashekhar Azad and Ashfaqulla Khan, Rani Lakshmi Bai and countless other martyrs. He also extended heartfelt greetings and Independence Day wishes to the brave soldiers guarding the borders, police personnel, farmers, workers, scientists, women, and youth.
The Deputy CM said that 2047 will mark 100 years of independence, and all citizens must resolve to make the country self-reliant and developed by then. He said every citizen of the country should contribute towards fulfilling this resolve, adding that he is fully confident that people will not lag behind when it comes to the nation’s interest. He said every citizen joining the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign reflects their spirit of patriotism, and congratulated all those who took part enthusiastically in the Tiranga Yatra. He said there is no devotion greater than devotion to the nation and no song greater than Vande Mataram, and today this song and the spirit of patriotism resonate on the lips of every Indian. The Deputy CM commended the Prime Minister for singing all six stanzas of Vande Mataram and congratulated everyone on the occasion, saying that singing Vande Mataram fills citizens with a sense of pride. He also remembered and paid tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the composer of Vande Mataram. He praised the police and PAC forces for maintaining robust law and order in the state, and concluded his address with the slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” The programme was conducted by Dr Prabhakar Tripathi.

The occasion was attended by Legislative Council member Surendra Chaudhary, BJP Gangapar district president Nirmala Paswan, Yamunapar district president Rajesh Shukla, regional vice-president Awadhesh Gupta, Vikram Bhadauria, and other public representatives, along with Police Commissioner Piyush Mordia, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, Additional Police Commissioner Ajay Pal Sharma, other administrative and police officers, and a large number of citizens.
