Teacher Preparation to Get New Boost: Yogi Government Releases Rs 3.38 Crore for Guide Books and Teacher Diaries

“Government’s endeavour is that teachers get the academic support they need at every stage, from lesson preparation to effective teaching” — Minister Sandeep Singh

Lucknow: Better teaching in the classroom begins with better preparation by the teacher. Guided by this thinking, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has released a limit of over Rs 3.81 crore for the 2026-27 academic session to provide teachers with essential academic resources.

Guide books and teacher diaries will be made available for Hindi and Mathematics teachers of classes 1 to 5 across all 75 districts of the state, while a separate limit of Rs 42.61 lakh has been released under the LEP head for teachers of classes 6 to 8 in council schools and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.

Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh said a better classroom begins with better preparation, and that the government’s endeavour is to ensure teachers get the necessary academic support at every stage — from preparing a lesson to teaching it effectively. He said the guide books and teacher diaries are part of this same initiative to strengthen a teacher-centric system.

The State Project Director’s Office, Samagra Shiksha, has released a total limit of Rs 338.54 lakh to 75 districts for the printing and supply of Hindi and Mathematics guide books and teacher diaries for classes 1 to 5. This includes Rs 172.35 lakh for printing the guide books, Rs 152.91 lakh for the teacher diaries, and Rs 13.27 lakh for transporting the printed material.

The guide book will help teachers, alongside the textbook, explain content more effectively, plan teaching activities, and take the lesson forward according to classroom needs. The teacher diary, meanwhile, will allow teachers to organise their classroom work plans and preparation for teaching activities more systematically.

A separate limit of Rs 42.61 lakh will be released under the LEP head for teachers of classes 6 to 8 in council schools and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. The aim is to ensure that teachers are not confined to the textbook alone, and instead receive the academic support needed for lesson preparation, presentation and classroom activities.

Director General of School Education and State Project Director Monika Rani has directed that the supply of guide books and teacher diaries, and their distribution down to the school level, be ensured in a time-bound manner. The directions make clear that teachers should not have to wait for essential material during the academic session.
