Bareilly: A compensation distribution programme under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme was organised at the Vikas Bhawan Auditorium under the chairmanship of Bareilly MP Chhatrapal Gangwar.
The programme covered compensation for crop losses during the Kharif 2025 and Rabi 2025–26 seasons. Officials informed that in Bareilly district, around 67 farmers will receive compensation amounting to approximately ₹8 lakh, which will be directly transferred to their bank accounts. On the occasion, 10 farmers were handed symbolic cheques.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Himanshu Pandey stated that a total of 17,973 farmers were registered under the scheme for Rabi crops and 18,668 farmers for Kharif crops in the district.
Addressing the gathering, MP Chhatrapal Gangwar emphasised the importance of the crop insurance scheme, urging farmers to register and avail its benefits. He highlighted that notified Kharif crops include paddy, jowar, bajra, maize, urad, moong, arhar, sesame, soybean, and groundnut, while Rabi crops include wheat, barley, gram, peas, lentil, mustard, linseed, and potato.
He further stated that the government is continuously working for farmers’ welfare and advised them to report crop losses within 72 hours through the Agriculture Protection Portal helpline.

The event was also attended by District Panchayat Chairperson Rashmi Patel, Chief Development Officer Devyani, and other officials.
The programme was seen as an important initiative to provide timely financial relief to farmers affected by crop losses.
