CM Yogi Congratulates Padma Awardees, Calls Them an Inspiration for the Nation

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt congratulations to the distinguished personalities honoured with the Padma Awards, describing their achievements as a matter of pride for the nation and a source of inspiration for future generations. The awards were conferred by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister congratulated renowned violinist N. Rajam, who received the Padma Vibhushan, and also conveyed his wishes to the family members of late veteran actor Dharmendra.

CM Yogi praised Ayurvedic scholar and researcher Dr. Keval Krishna Thakral for being honoured with the Padma Shri in the field of medicine. He highlighted Dr. Thakral’s six decades of dedication to Ayurveda and his pioneering work in developing the “Karn Vedhan” technique for bronchial asthma treatment. The Chief Minister described his research as an invaluable contribution to humanity and a major step in bringing traditional Indian medicine global recognition.

The Chief Minister also congratulated noted Kala-azar expert Prof. Shyam Sundar for receiving the Padma Shri for his exceptional work in medical science. He lauded the professor’s contribution towards developing the first effective oral treatment for Kala-azar and rapid diagnostic testing methods, calling the honour a fitting recognition of his lifelong commitment to medical research and public service.

In the field of agricultural science, CM Yogi congratulated Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh for being conferred with the Padma Shri. He said the scientist’s work in developing advanced rice varieties, strengthening agricultural research, and supporting farmers has significantly contributed to the vision of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and rural prosperity.

The Chief Minister further hailed senior physician Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad for his remarkable service in the treatment of tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant TB over the last five decades. He said the Padma Shri awarded to the veteran doctor reflects the nation’s respect for his selfless contribution to healthcare and humanity.

Recognising achievements in archaeology and heritage conservation, CM Yogi congratulated Prof. Buddha Rashmi Mani for receiving the Padma Shri. He appreciated the archaeologist’s efforts in the restoration and promotion of sacred heritage sites such as Ayodhya and Sarnath, saying his work has helped strengthen India’s cultural identity on the global stage.

The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to Paralympic gold medallist Praveen Kumar on receiving the Padma Shri. Calling him one of the youngest para-athletes to win consecutive Paralympic medals, CM Yogi said his determination, discipline, and success have become a shining inspiration for youth and differently-abled athletes across the country.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the dedication, innovation, and service shown by the Padma awardees continue to inspire society and strengthen India’s global reputation in diverse fields including medicine, agriculture, sports, arts, and cultural heritage.
