Classical, Folk and Fusion Dance Performances Enthrall Audience at ‘Kalayatra 3.0’ in Lucknow

Lucknow: A spectacular celebration of Indian dance and culture unfolded in Lucknow as Nritya Frolic Dance Academy organised its annual cultural programme “Kalayatra 3.0” at the Rai Umanath Bali Auditorium in Kaiserbagh on Saturday.

The grand event was conducted under the guidance and direction of renowned Kathak guru and academy founder Pallavi Prajapati. The evening featured a vibrant blend of Indian classical, folk, and fusion dance performances that captivated the audience throughout the programme.

The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony in the presence of chief guest Dr Akanksha Srivastava and distinguished guests Dr S.P. Mishra, Bharat Singh Bisht, Akanksha Anand, Lavina Jain, and Lovely Ghildiyal. Guests were welcomed with bouquets and mementoes.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Akanksha Srivastava praised the initiative and said that such cultural programmes play an important role in preserving and passing Indian art and heritage to younger generations. She also appreciated the efforts of Pallavi Prajapati in nurturing young talent through dance.

The cultural presentations commenced with a graceful Krishna Vandana performed by Prisha Gupta, Krisha, Samisha, Sakshi Bhatt, Parthavi Gupta, and Arinya. The audience was then mesmerised by the lively “Makhan Chori” act presented by Aarika, Mihika, Ambika, Anaysha Singh, Anaysha Rastogi, Ashvika Yadav, Siya Rai, Nishthi, and Damini.

One of the highlights of the evening was the “Navdurga” presentation, where Naina, Manika, Ishita, Swadha, Alisha, Anukriti, Gargi, Ananya, and Gyanvi beautifully portrayed the nine divine forms of Goddess Durga through expressive dance and storytelling.

A devotional atmosphere filled the auditorium during the Shiva Vandana performed by Aadrika, Aadya, and Aakhya. The rhythmic “Tarana” by Ahana and Ishanvi received loud applause, while Ananta Singh’s solo performance “Kanha Re” left the audience emotionally moved.

The duo performance “Ithlaati” by Damini and Shri showcased excellent coordination and stage presence. Energetic group performances on “Yoonga Yoonga” and “Garaj Garaj” further elevated the excitement in the auditorium with their powerful choreography and expressions.

The audience also appreciated emotionally rich performances such as “Nirmohiya” by Ishita, Naina, Manika, and Gyanvi, and “Payaliya” by Gargi, Swadha, Ananya, Anukriti, and Alisha, which combined graceful movements with strong artistic expression.

The evening concluded with a vibrant grand finale featuring all students together on stage, filling the auditorium with enthusiasm and celebration.

During the programme, accompanists, makeup artists, camera personnel, light and sound teams, and senior mentors were also honoured for their contributions. All participants received trophies, medals, and certificates from the chief guest and other dignitaries.

Concluding the event, Pallavi Prajapati expressed gratitude to the guests, parents, audience members, and participants. She said, “Kalayatra is not just a programme, but a continuing journey of Indian art, culture, and self-expression.” She added that the academy aims to empower children and women through dance by nurturing confidence, discipline, and creativity.
