Lucknow: The second day of the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2026 at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan witnessed a delightful blend of fun and festivity as children enthusiastically participated in a mango-eating competition organized as part of the ongoing celebration of the state’s famed mango heritage.
The competition, held for children between the ages of 8 and 12 years, attracted 27 participants who took part with great excitement and competitive spirit. Organized under the Uttar Pradesh government’s flagship mango festival initiative, the event added a vibrant family-friendly dimension to the three-day celebration.
As part of the contest, each participant was provided with two kilograms of mangoes to consume within a stipulated time. The venue echoed with laughter, cheers and encouragement from parents and spectators as children relished the state’s most iconic fruit while competing for top honours.
According to the competition rules, winners were selected based on the quantity of mangoes consumed within the allotted time. The victorious participants will be felicitated during the festival’s closing ceremony.
Organizers said the event was designed not only to entertain young visitors but also to promote awareness and appreciation of Uttar Pradesh’s rich mango diversity among the younger generation.

The final day of the festival, scheduled for July 5, will begin with a technical session focusing on food processing, where experts will discuss emerging technologies, value addition and opportunities in the agro-processing sector.
The grand closing ceremony and prize distribution programme will be held from 4:00 pm onwards. The event will be attended by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade and Agricultural Exports Dinesh Pratap Singh.
