UP Government to Launch Cashless Healthcare Scheme for Teachers in Presence of CM Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: In a major step towards strengthening the social and economic security of teachers, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana on July 8 in Varanasi. The scheme will be formally unveiled in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Handicraft Sankul (Trade Facilitation Centre).

On the occasion, the Basic Education Department and State Bank of India (SBI) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the social and financial well-being of permanent and contractual employees associated with the department.

Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Basic Education, Sandeep Singh, said the initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to teacher welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He noted that the cashless healthcare scheme will provide lakhs of teachers and contractual staff across the state with access to medical treatment without immediate financial burden, offering much-needed relief during emergencies and health crises.

According to directions issued by Director General, School Education and State Project Director, Monica Rani, district-level awareness programmes will be organized simultaneously across the state on the day of the launch. These events will be held under the chairmanship of District Magistrates at district headquarters and Sub-Divisional Magistrates at tehsil headquarters.

The programmes will focus on creating awareness about the MoU and the benefits of the new healthcare initiative. District Basic Education Officers have been instructed to coordinate with local SBI officials to ensure their participation in outreach activities and facilitate widespread dissemination of information among teachers and education staff.

Officials said the initiative is expected to create a stronger social security framework for the teaching community while promoting access to quality healthcare through a streamlined cashless treatment system. The government believes the scheme will significantly improve the welfare and financial resilience of teachers, reinforcing their vital role in the state’s education system.
