The month-long workshop is being conducted from May 26 to June 25, 2026, and has attracted enthusiastic participation from learners across different age groups.

The workshop has witnessed an overwhelming response, reflecting a growing interest in India’s rich artistic traditions. This year, Kathak has emerged as the most sought-after discipline, receiving the highest number of registrations and highlighting the increasing popularity of the classical dance form among young learners and art enthusiasts.

Designed to nurture creativity and artistic talent, the workshop offers structured training in a wide range of disciplines. Participants are receiving instruction in Indian classical vocal music, light music, folk songs, tabla, pakhawaj, sitar, violin, flute, harmonium, keyboard and western guitar. Dance training is being provided in Kathak, Bharatanatyam and folk dance, while the fine arts segment includes painting and clay modelling.

A notable feature of the programme is the inclusion of special classical vocal music classes for autistic and specially-abled children, making the initiative inclusive and accessible. The university has been widely appreciated for creating opportunities that encourage participation from all sections of society.

Workshop sessions are being conducted daily, except on Sundays and public holidays, in two batches from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Participants are being trained by the university’s experienced faculty members and instructors, who are providing guidance from beginner to advanced levels.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be given an opportunity to showcase their skills through a stage performance, and certificates will be awarded during the valedictory ceremony.

Speaking about the initiative, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mandavi Singh said that music and the arts not only provide joy and creative expression but also contribute significantly to the holistic development of an individual’s personality. She described the workshop as an important step towards preserving and promoting India’s classical music, dance and fine arts traditions. She added that the university’s mission extends beyond formal education to fostering artistic awareness and cultural appreciation among children, youth and the wider community.

Workshop Coordinator Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra said that such programmes provide participants with a valuable platform to discover and develop their creative potential. He noted that the special classes for autistic and differently-abled children reflect the university’s commitment to inclusive education and cultural accessibility. He expressed confidence that the workshop would prove enriching for participants and help them develop a deeper connection with India’s cultural heritage.
