Lucknow: Babu Banarasi Das College of Dental Sciences, a constituent of Babu Banarasi Das University, celebrated Oral Medicine and Radiology Day with great enthusiasm and academic spirit through a three-day programme held from April 22 to 24.
Organised by the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, the event brought together undergraduate students, interns, and postgraduate scholars for a series of intellectually engaging and creative activities aimed at enhancing awareness about the specialty.
This year’s theme, “Know Your Oral Medicine and Radiology Specialist: Oral Medicine in Systemic Synergy,” highlighted the crucial role oral medicine specialists play in linking oral health with overall systemic health. The programme focused on promoting interdisciplinary understanding and emphasised the importance of early diagnosis and comprehensive management of complex oral diseases.
Under the guidance of Head of Department Prof. Dr. Deepak U, a wide range of competitions was organised, including essay writing, reel making, poster making, and quiz contests. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with over 50 students showcasing their knowledge, creativity, and innovation.
Oral Medicine and Radiology Day is observed annually on April 24 to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology, recognising the specialty’s vital contribution to diagnosing, preventing, and managing oral and maxillofacial disorders with systemic implications.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Pasricha, who felicitated the winners with certificates of appreciation. She commended the efforts of both students and faculty and expressed gratitude to the BBD Educational Group for its continued support in fostering academic and professional excellence.
The celebration concluded on an inspiring note, leaving participants better informed about the evolving scope and significance of oral medicine and radiology in modern healthcare.
