Lucknow: Fifty students and four faculty members of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIM Lucknow, received hands-on exposure to innovation, emerging technologies and entrepreneurship during a field visit and idea-creation activity organised at Goel Institute of Technology and Management (GITM), Lucknow, on Wednesday.
The activity was conducted under the DICE (Developing Innovation Culture and Entrepreneurship) Programme, funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It aimed to nurture creativity, innovation, problem-solving abilities and entrepreneurial thinking among school students.
The programme began with the felicitation of the visiting faculty members, followed by an expert session on idea creation. Students were introduced to methods of identifying real-world problems, generating innovative ideas and developing solutions with practical and social relevance.
The visit then moved from ideas to implementation, with GITM students demonstrating working prototypes of their innovations. The demonstrations gave school students a practical understanding of how creative concepts can be transformed into functional solutions.
A hands-on Internet of Things (IoT) session further introduced the students to emerging technologies. They also visited GITM’s Centre of Excellence (CoE), Idea and Prototype Lab and Skill Development Centre, gaining valuable insights into prototyping, technological innovation and skill-development opportunities.
The activity provided students with an enriching learning experience beyond the classroom. By engaging directly with emerging technologies, working prototypes and entrepreneurial practices, the participants strengthened their understanding of problem identification, idea generation and solution development, while taking important steps towards developing an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
