Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Aam Aadmi Party organised a statewide blood donation campaign on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, with large blood donation camps held across all districts of the state.

The campaign was organised following a call by AAP Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. Camps were reported in districts including Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Sultanpur, Saharanpur, Agra, Gorakhpur, Hapur, Ambedkar Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Gonda, Bareilly, Ghazipur, Sonbhadra and Chitrakoot, among others.

In Lucknow, a blood donation programme was organised at the Shatabdi Department of King George’s Medical University under the leadership of district president Iram Rizvi. Party office-bearers, workers and a large number of local youths participated in the camp and donated blood voluntarily.

Inaugurating the camp, Rizvi said Bhagat Singh had sacrificed his life for India’s freedom and self-respect, and that donating blood to save the lives of fellow citizens was a meaningful way of serving society. She said the party’s workers were inspired by the sacrifices of freedom fighters and remained committed to public service.

Rizvi said timely availability of blood can be critical for patients, particularly in cases involving accidents, serious illnesses and emergency medical treatment. She appealed to young people to participate regularly in blood donation drives and contribute to saving lives.

She further said Bhagat Singh’s ideas of equality and social responsibility should inspire the younger generation to work for society. According to Rizvi, the statewide campaign saw participation from party workers, youths and social activists, with hundreds of units of blood donated across Uttar Pradesh.
