Avinash Tiwary on Working with Medha Shankr in ‘Ginny Wedss Sunny 2’: “She Broke the Ice On Set and Made It Effortless”

Mumbai: The upcoming romantic comedy Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is already generating buzz for its fresh pairing of Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr. Ahead of the film’s release, Avinash opened up about his admiration for his co-star and how their on-screen chemistry translated seamlessly off-screen.

The actor revealed that he first took notice of Medha Shankr after watching her critically acclaimed performance in 12th Fail, which immediately made him interested in working with her.

“I saw 12th Fail and I was like, I want to work with this girl,” Avinash said. “Almost 15 days after saying that, I got an offer for another project where we were supposed to work together, but it didn’t materialize. Later, when Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 came my way and I found out Medha was part of it, I was fully on board,” he added.

Avinash also praised Medha’s intelligence and easygoing nature, describing her as both sharp and fun to work with. Reflecting on their first days on set, he noted how she played a key role in breaking the ice between them.

“She was new to the set, even newer than me in films in some ways, but she was so comfortable that she made me comfortable too,” he shared. “People say things become effortless, but when you actually see someone making an effort to ease things out, it really helps. She did exactly that, and it relaxed me completely.”

He further added, “From then on, everything felt natural. The conversations were easy, the energy was fun, and honestly, I’ve not had this much fun on a film in a long time.”

Directed and written by Prasshant Jha, Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on April 24, 2026. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Lillete Dubey, Sudhir Pandey, Govind Namdev, Gopi Bhalla, Nayani Dixit, Vishwanath Chatterjee, and Rohit Chaudhary.

The trailer is set to release on April 9, with audiences eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the lighthearted chemistry between the lead pair.
