AIIMS Raebareli Organises Health Screening Camp
Raebareli: Marking World Hypertension Day (May 17), the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raebareli organised a special awareness and health screening programme at Jahannpur Kodar Panchayat Bhawan on Sunday.
The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Head of Department Prof. Dr. Bhola Nath and coordinated by faculty member and nodal officer Dr. Neeraj Pawar.
The programme began with a street play (nukkad natak) performed by MBBS students, which highlighted the risks of hypertension, the importance of regular health check-ups, adherence to medication, and healthy lifestyle practices including the DASH diet.
As part of the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), community screening was carried out using CBAC forms. House-to-house surveys were conducted to identify cases of hypertension and tobacco use in the area.
The activity was supported by Community Health Officer Deepali Mishra, ASHA worker Vinay, and village head Mithesh Yadav, who played an active role in facilitating community participation.

A dedicated health screening camp was also organised for residents aged between 30 and 75 years. Around 40 individuals were examined during the camp. Participants found with blood pressure levels above 140/90 mmHg were provided with necessary medication and follow-up counselling.
Senior residents including Dr. Manas Nigam, Dr. Pragya Verma and Dr. Shashank Mamgain also contributed to the medical services during the programme.
Officials stated that the main objective of the initiative was to raise awareness about hypertension and encourage early diagnosis, regular monitoring and timely treatment to prevent complications such as heart disease and stroke.
The programme received positive participation from local residents and was appreciated as an important step toward community-level preventive healthcare.
