SBI Employees Stage Protest in Lucknow, Announce Nationwide Strike on May 25–26

Lucknow: Employees of the State Bank of India (SBI) staged a strong protest outside the main branch in Lucknow on Monday, pressing for long-pending demands under the banner of the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation.

The demonstration was held under the leadership of Circle President Ajay Pandey and General Secretary Dr. D.K. Singh. A large number of employees from various branches participated in the sit-in and raised slogans demanding immediate resolution of service-related issues.

Speaking during the protest, General Secretary Dr. D.K. Singh said the employees are demanding recruitment of messengers and armed guards, adequate staffing in branches, and an end to outsourcing in permanent positions. They also sought an option for employees under the National Pension System (NPS) to choose fund managers, along with parity in wages and service conditions.

The union also demanded improvements in the medical reimbursement scheme, resolution of pension-related anomalies, and immediate correction of issues related to HRMS systems.

Several union leaders, including Awadhesh Singh, R.P. Singh (vice presidents), Ashutosh Verma, Tarakeshwar Chauhan (deputy general secretaries), Brijesh Kumar Tiwari, Akash Sharma (NCBE), Ankur Agrawal, Rakesh Kumar (assistant general secretaries), and regional secretaries Deependra Kumar and Satish Shukla, addressed the gathering and expressed solidarity with the demands.

According to media in-charge Anil Tiwari, employees will wear black masks while on duty as a form of protest. He further stated that if no concrete solution emerges in the scheduled talks on May 13, employees will proceed with a two-day nationwide strike on May 25 and 26.

The protest witnessed participation from a large number of employees across different branches, reflecting growing dissatisfaction over unresolved service and administrative issues
