Administration reviews preparations for Republic Day

Lucknow: A crucial meeting was convened at the Collectorate Hall, presided over by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob, Chief Minister’s Secretary Surya Pal Gangwar, and District Magistrate Vishakh G Iyer, to discuss the preparations for the grand Republic Day celebration. During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized that this year’s national festival should witness exceptional and dignified programs, similar to last year. She stated that all events on January 26 should be engaging, attractive, inspiring, and educational.

In addition to the Republic Day preparations, the Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements for the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Day celebrations scheduled for January 24. It was directed that additional buses be deployed from 8 routes to facilitate easy access to the event venue for the public, ensuring no inconvenience for attendees. Furthermore, extensive publicity was to be carried out regarding the bus pick-up points and locations. The police administration was also instructed to ensure separate entry points for VIPs and general public at the event. Additionally, the municipal corporation was tasked with ensuring cleanliness, fogging, water tankers, and mobile toilets at the Awadh Shilpgram venue.

Following this, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the preparations for the Republic Day program on January 26. Chief Minister’s Secretary informed that this year’s Republic Day event would feature cultural performances by artists from 8 states. All artists would arrive in the district by January 21, and a full-dress rehearsal would be conducted on January 24. A total of 66 contingents would participate in the parade.

The Divisional Commissioner emphasized that special attention should be paid to the timing of the parade and ensured that the municipal corporation takes responsibility for cleanliness during the event. The Chief Secretary also mentioned that, as in previous years, the national anthem would be broadcast live via ITMS and the municipal corporation’s LED screens. During the national anthem, all traffic signals would turn red, and people would stand at attention to honor the anthem wherever they are.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Chief Development Officer, Municipal Commissioner, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue), Additional District Magistrate (Eastern Municipal), Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supplies), Additional District Magistrate (Judicial), Additional District Magistrate (Land), all Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Additional City Magistrates, municipal corporation officials, Public Works Department, and Lucknow Development Authority, among others.
