Lucknow: Akhilesh Das Gupta School celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with great pride and patriotic zeal. The celebrations began with a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Principal Ms Anjana Swami, followed by the singing of the National Song and the National Anthem.
The programme opened with a patriotic Hindi poem, followed by a melodious patriotic song and an inspiring English speech that highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the values of freedom, unity and patriotism. Adding to the spectacle, students put up an impressive pyramid display, demonstrating remarkable strength, coordination and teamwork through a series of formations.
The Foundation Group then presented a vibrant cultural performance, showcasing traditional dance forms from different states of India in celebration of the country’s rich heritage and its spirit of unity in diversity. This was followed by a melodious English song performed by students of Grades 1 and 2.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Ms Anjana Swami delivered an inspiring speech on the occasion, emphasising the importance of patriotism, responsibility and contributing positively to the nation. The students went on to present a thought-provoking skit titled “Women – The Pride of India,” celebrating the strength, achievements and contributions of Indian women.
The celebrations concluded on a high note with an energetic and captivating dance performance by students of Grades 3 to 8, bringing a memorable close to the school’s Independence Day festivities.
