MJPRU Law Department Holds Induction Programme for New LLM and PhD Students

Bareilly: The Department of Law at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, organised an induction and Deeksharambh programme for newly admitted first-year LLM students and PhD scholars in accordance with University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.

The programme was organised for students enrolled in LLM General, Self-Finance and Human Rights programmes, along with newly admitted PhD scholars.

Head of the Department of Law, Dr Amit Singh, welcomed the students and said the induction programme marked the beginning of their formal academic journey. He said an LLM programme was not limited to legal education but also played an important role in personality development and the acquisition of decision-making skills.

Dr Singh briefed students about the course structure, curriculum and research opportunities. He described this phase as one of the most important periods in a student’s life, as it prepares them to contribute meaningfully to society and develop the skills required to take important decisions. He said students completing the programme should strive to establish themselves as specialists in their respective areas.

Students were also introduced to the university’s academic environment and facilities, including the campus, stadium, Panchal Museum, Central Library and the Department of Law. Information was shared about career opportunities in the legal field, legal aid and clinical activities, research initiatives, internships and short research projects.

Dr Singh encouraged students to actively participate in academic and research activities and work towards developing professional expertise.

Faculty members Prof. V.K. Gupta, Prof. Arun Prakash Singh, Dr Shahnaz Akhtar, Dr Anuradha Yadav, Dr Nidhi Shankar and Preksha Singh interacted with the students. They provided information about the syllabus, internal assessments and main examinations, besides addressing students’ academic queries.

The department also welcomed Avadhesh Kumar Pandey, who has been appointed to the post of Professor of Practice. Head of Department Dr Amit Singh presented him with a bouquet on behalf of the department.

The programme was organised under the guidance and patronage of MJPRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh and under the direction of Dr Amit Singh.

Dr Shahnaz Akhtar, Dr Anuradha Yadav, Dr Lakshmi Devi, Dr Praveen Krishna Chauhan, Dr Naeemuddin, Preksha Singh, Dr Preeti Verma, Dr Sachin Rastogi, Dr Nidhi Shankar and research scholars Shailendra Singh and Shraddha Swaroop, along with LLM students and other employees of the Law Department, including Gulab Singh, Ram Vachan, Ramnath and Mohit, were present.
