Intensive Checking Drive Against School Vehicles; Four Seized in Gonda

Gonda: A special checking drive against school vehicles has been launched in Gonda district to ensure compliance with fitness, permit and other mandatory safety requirements. The campaign is being conducted in accordance with government directives and orders issued by the district administration.

A joint team of the police and Transport Department carried out intensive inspections at several locations, including Khorhansa, Darjikuan, Wazirganj, Munnan Khan Chauraha and Circular Road. During the checks, officials examined fitness certificates, permits and other mandatory documents of school vehicles.

Four school vehicles were seized after they were found to have failed fitness requirements, had invalid permits or were in violation of other transport regulations. Further action is being taken against the vehicles and their operators as per the prescribed rules.

During the campaign, officials also instructed school managements and vehicle operators to ensure that all vehicles used for transporting children have valid and updated fitness certificates. Permits, insurance, pollution certificates and other required documents must also be complete and valid. Officials warned that unfit or permit-deficient vehicles must not be operated under any circumstances.

Special Drive to Continue Till August 25

The special checking campaign will continue from August 11 to August 25, 2026, as directed by the state government and district administration. Joint teams of the police and Transport Department will conduct inspections on various routes, major intersections and other locations across the district.

Particular attention will be given to unfit vehicles, vehicles operating without valid permits and those violating prescribed transport norms. Such vehicles will face strict action and may be seized in accordance with the law.

Officials have directed all school managements and vehicle operators to keep the fitness certificates, permits and all other mandatory documents of school vehicles up to date and ensure that vehicles are operated strictly according to prescribed safety standards.

Authorities emphasised that the safety of schoolchildren remains the top priority and that negligence or violations of transport rules will not be tolerated. School administrations and vehicle operators have been asked to cooperate fully with the checking drive and ensure safe transportation of children.
