Players and coaches felicitated on stage in Lucknow
Lucknow: More than 3,000 players from across the state took part in the Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior (men’s and women’s) State-Level Taekwondo Championship, held at K.D. Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow from July 30 to August 2. Players from the Gonda Taekwondo Association put in a standout performance, walking away with 13 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze medals, and flying the district’s flag high at the state meet.
Announcing the results, association secretary Dr. Pratyush Raj said the following players were selected across categories:
Sub-Junior category: Gold medals went to Rudransh Joshi, Arya Maurya, Ayushman Srivastava, Aadya Singh, Kushagra Singh and Devendra. Bhavya Khandelwal and Aishwarya Shukla won silver. Bronze medals went to Sharvin Andreas, Abhay Anand Arya, Shubhankar Srivastava, Adamya Shukla and Rudrima Upadhyay.
Cadet category: Shreesh Mittal, Tejaswini Maurya, Anchal Maurya, Aadvik Adarsh and Abhyudaya Pratap Singh won gold, while Dhirendra took silver. Rudra Singh, Saransh Rakesh Bhogade, Vaishnavi Dwivedi and Vaishnavi won bronze, and Aditya Anand Arya took silver.
Junior category: Aditya Deep Pandey and Avnish Singh won gold, Nishtha Dwivedi took silver, and Khushi Mishra and Harish Gautam won bronze.
Impressed by the sheer number of medals brought home, Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo secretary Rajkumar presented a trophy to the Gonda contingent, and secretary Dr. Pratyush Raj and coach Sarthak Singh were honoured with mementoes.
On their return to the district, office-bearers of the Taekwondo Association and parents gave the players a warm welcome. Dr. Pratyush Raj said the organisation would soon hold a felicitation ceremony to honour all the medal winners — who have brought glory to Gonda’s name at the state level — along with their parents.
