Strict Action Against Overloaded Vehicles

The Commissioner directed authorities to take immediate action based on data generated through the Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems installed at toll plazas. Highlighting overloading as a major contributor to road accidents, he called for regular enforcement drives against overloaded vehicles and timely sharing of information among departments to strengthen monitoring and compliance.

He stressed the need for detailed analysis of accident causes to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Promotion of Good Samaritan and Cashless Treatment Schemes

Pant emphasized encouraging citizens who assist road accident victims and directed officials to ensure eligible Good Samaritans receive recognition and benefits under government provisions.

The Health Department was instructed to undertake extensive awareness campaigns about the Good Samaritan Scheme at trauma centres, highway hospitals, and major healthcare institutions. He also directed officials to ensure that accident victims receive timely benefits under the cashless treatment programme.

School Vehicle Safety and Public Awareness

The Divisional Commissioner instructed district administrations to hold regular meetings of District Road Safety Committees and School Vehicle Safety Committees. He directed authorities to conduct routine inspections of school vehicles to verify fitness certificates, permits, and compliance with safety standards, warning that strict action should be taken against violations.

The meeting also stressed the need to strengthen public awareness campaigns on road safety, promote adherence to traffic rules, and enhance inter-departmental coordination to achieve a sustained reduction in road accidents across the region.
