PM-USHA Board of Governors Holds First Meeting for FY 2026–27

Lucknow: The first meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) constituted under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) for the financial year 2026–27 was held at Lucknow University. The meeting brought together senior university administrators and academic leaders to review the progress of ongoing projects and chart the roadmap for future implementation under the centrally sponsored higher education scheme.

During the meeting, the Board approved the restructuring of the Project Monitoring Committee to enhance oversight and improve the execution of PM-USHA projects. The Board also authorized Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini to reconstitute the Purchase Committee and the Technical Committee to ensure greater efficiency and transparency in project implementation.

The Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) was directed to continue conducting regular reviews of all activities being undertaken under the PM-USHA programme. Members carried out a component-wise assessment of various projects and instructed the concerned agencies to complete all assigned works within the stipulated timelines.

A significant decision taken during the meeting was the labeling of all equipment procured under the PM-USHA scheme so far. The Board also resolved to invite fresh proposals from heads of departments for the procurement of new equipment required for academic and research activities.

Participants emphasized that the initiatives being implemented under PM-USHA would play a crucial role in enhancing the academic standards, research capabilities, and administrative efficiency of state universities.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini said, “Lucknow University is giving the highest priority to transparency, quality, and timely execution under the PM-USHA scheme. The decisions taken by the Board of Governors will have far-reaching implications not only for our university but also for state universities across Uttar Pradesh. The labeling of equipment and restructuring of committees will further strengthen our institutional processes and governance framework.”

The meeting was attended by Prof. Arvind Mohan, Prof. Sheela Mishra, Prof. R.K. Verma, Prof. Anoop Kumar Bhartiya, and Registrar Dr. Bhawana Mishra, along with other members of the Board.

The deliberations underscored Lucknow University’s commitment to effectively implementing PM-USHA initiatives and leveraging the scheme to strengthen higher education infrastructure, governance, and academic excellence.
