Man Arrested for Abducting Minor Girl in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar

Lucknow: The Gomti Nagar police in Lucknow have arrested a 21-year-old accused for allegedly luring and abducting a minor girl, officials said on Monday.

According to police sources, the case was registered on April 21, 2026, after a complainant approached the local police station alleging that his minor sister had been enticed and taken away by the accused. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the course of investigation, statements of the complainant and the victim were recorded, and the crime scene was examined. Based on the findings, additional sections under the BNS, including Section 74, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act (Sections 7/8), were invoked in the case.

Police teams, led by Sub-Inspector Prem Kumar, launched a search operation and gathered intelligence inputs. Acting on a tip-off, the accused—identified as Ayan Siddiqui, a resident of Viram Khand in Gomti Nagar—was arrested on April 27 at around 5:20 PM from his rented accommodation in the area.

Officials confirmed that legal proceedings are being carried out against the accused under Case No. 153/2026, registered under Sections 137(2), 87, and 74 of the BNS, along with Sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act.

Police added that efforts are underway to verify the accused’s criminal history from other police stations and districts.

The arrest was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Prem Kumar and Constable Sunil Kumar of Gomti Nagar police station.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children and taking strict action against such offenses.
