Lucknow: The Special Task Force (STF), Uttar Pradesh, successfully apprehended Shubham Yadav, a wanted criminal with a reward of ₹50,000 on his head, in connection with a murder case registered in Sikrara Police Station, Jaunpur. The arrest took place on March 26, 2026, at Machlishahar Highway, Malsil Mod, Tiraha, Sikrara, Jaunpur, at around 6:30 PM.
The accused, Shubham Yadav, son of Saroj Yadav, resident of Nizamuddinpur village, Sikrara, Jaunpur, was wanted under FIR No. 406/2025, Sections 103(1) and 238 BNS.
The STF, acting on intelligence gathered by its various units, conducted a coordinated operation under the supervision of Shailesh Pratap Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, STF Field Unit, Prayagraj, and Inspector Jay Prakash Rai. The field team led by Sub-Inspector Ranendra Kumar Singh, along with personnel Ashwani Kumar Singh, Santosh Kumar, Kishan Chandra, and driver Akhand Pratap Pandey, was conducting surveillance in Jaunpur when the accused was spotted and immediately apprehended.

During interrogation, Shubham Yadav confessed that he, along with his accomplice Ashok Kumar Yadav, had planned and executed the murder of Ramakant Yadav over a financial dispute. On November 19, 2025, they intercepted Ramakant on his way from Mumbai, attacked him with an iron rod near Samdganj Bazaar, and disposed of the body near Bargudar. Following the murder, the accused went into hiding in Noida, Varanasi, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Jaunpur. His accomplice Ashok Kumar Yadav was earlier arrested on November 26, 2025.
Shubham Yadav has been produced before the Sikrara Police Station and registered under FIR No. 406/2025, with further legal proceedings underway by the local police.
