Lucknow: A large-scale free spectacle distribution programme was organised at Shri Harbhaj Ram Kripa Devi Trust Hospital on the occasion of its 65th Foundation Day, reaffirming the institution’s longstanding commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare. The event was attended by eminent medical professionals, trustees, staff members and beneficiaries.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr. Suryakant, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at King George’s Medical University, highlighted the pressing need for timely medical intervention. He observed that patients suffering even from acute dental pain are often given distant dates for treatment in government hospitals, despite requiring immediate care. “In many large public medical institutions, patients have to wait for treatment. At Shri Harbhaj Trust Hospital, not only is immediate treatment provided, but medicines are also given completely free of cost,” he said.
Dr. Suryakant lauded the hospital for its modern infrastructure and patient-centric approach. He noted that the dental department is equipped with three advanced machines, ensuring efficient and quality treatment for dental patients. In the field of ophthalmology, the hospital has installed a state-of-the-art phaco machine for cataract surgeries, enabling safer and more precise procedures. He emphasized that both dental and eye care services are readily accessible to all sections of society at the hospital.
Praising the institution’s service record, Dr. Suryakant described the hospital’s humanitarian work as being of a “very high standard.” He remarked that even after completing 65 years of service, the hospital continues to adopt new and advanced medical technologies to serve patients better. He also extended his best wishes to Hospital President Vidyasagar Gupta and to Secretary Amit Gupta, who represents the next generation of leadership, for carrying forward the legacy of service with dedication and vision.
Speaking on the occasion, Hospital Chairman Vidyasagar Gupta reflected on the institution’s 65-year journey, outlining its major achievements and milestones. He said the hospital was founded with the vision of providing quality healthcare to the underprivileged and has remained steadfast in its mission over the decades. From humble beginnings, the hospital has evolved into a trusted charitable healthcare centre known for its compassionate care and modern facilities.
Hospital Secretary Amit Gupta informed that approximately 200 patients who had undergone cataract surgeries were provided free spectacles during the programme. He said the distribution drive was part of the hospital’s continuous effort to ensure complete post-operative care and rehabilitation for patients. “Our aim is not just to perform surgeries but to ensure that patients regain clear vision and return to their daily lives with confidence,” he stated.

In addition to the spectacle distribution, certificates were also awarded to trainees enrolled in the hospital’s free stitching and computer training programmes. These skill development initiatives are aimed at empowering economically weaker sections by providing them with employable skills and opportunities for self-reliance. The dual focus on healthcare and community upliftment, speakers noted, sets the institution apart as a socially responsible organization.
Trustees and office-bearers present at the event included Vice Chairman Ramesh Agarwal, Secretary Amit Gupta, and trustees Sushil Agarwal, Siddharth Gupta, Arvind Gupta and Rajat Gupta. Doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital also participated actively in the programme, ensuring smooth coordination and interaction with beneficiaries.
Patients who received spectacles expressed gratitude for the hospital’s support. Many of them said that the free distribution significantly eased their financial burden, particularly after undergoing surgery. For several elderly beneficiaries, the spectacles marked a renewed sense of independence and improved quality of life.
Over the years, Shri Harbhaj Ram Kripa Devi Trust Hospital has built a reputation for offering immediate and free treatment to those in need. From dental care and cataract surgeries to general medical services, the hospital continues to bridge gaps in accessible healthcare. The 65th Foundation Day celebration not only commemorated its legacy but also reinforced its commitment to expanding charitable services in the future.
As the event concluded, attendees reiterated the importance of strengthening charitable medical institutions that complement public healthcare systems. With sustained community support and progressive leadership, the hospital aims to continue its mission of delivering compassionate, modern and inclusive healthcare for years to come.
