LUCKNOW – Amidst ongoing global trade wars, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has devised a major new strategy to boost the state’s exports. The state aims to expand its export markets beyond the United States to include countries like Spain, Italy, Brazil, and Malaysia. The plan identifies both traditional and new sectors for growth.
New Export Policy to Offer Substantial Incentives
The state’s upcoming New Export Promotion Policy-2030 will introduce, for the first time, a provision to offer a grant of up to 40 percent of the project cost to export units. Additionally, the policy will provide phased assistance, incentives, and grants to increase the number of exporters by 50 percent over the next five years.
Expanding into the Service Sector
The new policy also gives prominence to the service sector. Recognizing the immense potential in areas such as medical tourism, hospitality, transport, logistics, and higher education, the government has included these sectors in the new framework. Uttar Pradesh is already a significant player in the software export sector.

“Ease of Doing Export” to be Launched
Following the successful “Ease of Doing Business” model, the government will now implement “Ease of Doing Export.” This initiative will provide incentives for market research, digital marketing, e-commerce, and social media marketing. The policy will also link export performance to incentives for the first time.

Expert Recommendations and Training
Pranjal Yadav, Secretary of the MSME and Industrial Development Department, stated that Uttar Pradesh currently ranks fifth in the country’s total exports. He said major steps are being taken to increase the state’s share beyond 5% and to diversify the export sector, especially within the MSME segment.
Hasan Yakub, Co-Chairman of ASSOCHAM, suggested that the government should implement measures like interest subsidies, market expansion grants, and logistics support to help exporters penetrate new international markets.
In a report submitted to the government, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) proposed training 10,000 exporters on international trade processes by 2027. The first phase of this training will be conducted in key export hubs like Moradabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Saharanpur.
