Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has announced that the state government has made extensive arrangements to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fertilizers during the ongoing Kharif 2025 season. As of now, 14.59 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 5.63 lakh metric tonnes of phosphatic fertilizers (DAP and NPK) are available across cooperative and private sector sales centers in the state.
On July 8, 2025, alone, farmers purchased 32,700 metric tonnes of urea, 6,566 metric tonnes of DAP, and 3,559 metric tonnes of NPK, reflecting strong demand and smooth distribution.
Minister Shahi stated that according to divisional data, the highest availability of urea has been recorded in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Bareilly divisions. Cooperative retail points currently stock 1.13 lakh metric tonnes of urea, while 1.89 lakh metric tonnes are stored in district-level buffer godowns. Adequate availability of DAP and NPK fertilizers has also been ensured statewide.
To protect farmers from malpractice, the minister issued a stern warning against forced tagging or bundling of other products with fertilizer sales.
“Any such complaint will result in immediate and strict action against the guilty,” he said.
A control room has been set up at the headquarters level (0522-2209650) along with complaint facilities at district magistrate offices, where farmers can report irregularities.
The target for Kharif 2025 is to sow/plant crops on 106.05 lakh hectares of land. So far, the state has achieved:

- 48% coverage of paddy
- 51% of maize
- 41% of pulses
- 40% of oilseeds
- 29% of millets (Shri Ann)
The state is also working in close coordination with the Government of India to ensure daily fertilizer consumption is met and supplies remain consistent.
Minister Shahi also emphasized strict surveillance in border districts to curb overpricing, black marketing, and unauthorized activities like TGU (tagged goods units). FIRs are being registered and punitive measures are underway against those found guilty.
All district agriculture officers have been instructed to work in tandem with the Cooperative Department to ensure timely fertilizer access to needy farmers and engage with them directly on the ground.
He urged farmers to purchase fertilizers only as per current requirements and refrain from hoarding for future crops such as potato and mustard.
“The government is committed to meeting every farmer’s needs, and no farmer in Uttar Pradesh will be left without adequate fertilizer,” he assured.
