Lucknow : The Yogi government has decided to celebrate ‘Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas’ (Tribal Pride Day) as the ‘Janjati Bhaagidari Utsav’ (Tribal Participation Festival) on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. Over 300 tribal artists from across the country and abroad will take part in this event.
Notably, the festival will be held in Lucknow from November 15 to November 20 at the Sangeet Natya Kala Academy and Bhaagidari Bhawan. The event will showcase aspects of tribal life and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Following the wishes of the Chief Minister, artists from 22 states across India, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Mizoram, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Delhi, as well as international participants from Slovakia and Croatia, will take part in the Janjati Bhaagidari Utsav.
The event will feature tribal artists, handicraftsmen, weavers, painters, and more. Alongside tribal artists, performances by nomadic tribes, acrobats, impersonators, Bhapang players, Kaachi Ghori dancers, Logman, and puppetry will be included.
The festival will also host a craft fair with 100 shops showcasing tribal handicrafts, costumes, cuisine, and tribal games. A presentation and exhibition of tribal musical instruments will be featured. The tribal handicraft fair will be a major attraction, offering a unique combination of folk dance, folk arts, photo sessions, and vibrant displays. There are plans to set up colorful rangoli displays and swings for added charm.
To ensure the successful organization of the program, extensive publicity will be carried out through hoardings, banners, stadium displays, and LED vans at prominent locations in the city, as well as at the event venue. During the festival, people will have the opportunity to purchase products made by tribal communities, including clothing, wooden items, jute products, items made from Moose, and forest medicines.
