Lucknow: A pivotal workshop on the “PM Surya Ghar Yojana” was held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, gathering key officials and stakeholders to discuss the city’s ambitious goal of installing 1.5 lakh solar rooftops. The attendees included the Mayor of Lucknow, prominent councilors, the Municipal Commissioner, and representatives from the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), along with banks and vendors associated with the scheme.
During the workshop, UPNEDA Director Anupam Shukla highlighted the core aspects of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, stressing its role in promoting sustainable energy through solar rooftop installations. He elaborated on the scheme’s benefits, including a potential 60% reduction in electricity bills and a maximum subsidy of ₹1,08,000 per household. Furthermore, a streamlined registration process allows citizens to apply via the official website by simply entering their electricity account number and mobile number.
The Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh encouraged residents to actively participate in the scheme, emphasizing the goal of installing solar rooftops in all 110 wards of Lucknow. He also urged councilors to accelerate this mission at the grassroots level, with ward-wise lists provided by UPNEDA to expedite installations.
