Lucknow: Commuting during the upcoming festive season is set to become easier for residents and visitors in several Uttar Pradesh cities, with Bharat Taxi preparing to expand its app-based transport network to 12 more locations within a month.
The service, currently operational in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Kanpur and Prayagraj, is expected to reach Ayodhya, Agra and Meerut before Navratri. Preparations are also underway to launch the service in Mathura, Firozabad, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Sitapur, Hathras, Etawah, Mirzapur and Rae Bareli.

Driver registration and vehicle onboarding have already begun in several cities. The expansion is aimed at meeting increased demand around religious sites, markets, railway stations and bus terminals during Navratri and Diwali.
Bharat Taxi will not be limited to cars. Bike and auto-rickshaw drivers will also be brought onto the platform, providing commuters with more options, particularly for short-distance journeys. More than 50,000 drivers have already joined the platform across Uttar Pradesh.

Cooperation Minister JPS Rathore said preparations had been accelerated ahead of the festive rush, when passenger movement typically rises across major cities.
With the next phase, Bharat Taxi is expected to strengthen app-based local transport connectivity beyond the state’s major urban centres and extend services to smaller cities as well.
