Gonda: District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan has issued strict directions to ensure immediate restoration and uninterrupted supply of electricity across Gonda, particularly in areas affected by damage to power poles and lines due to adverse weather.
A meeting to review the district’s electricity supply and power infrastructure was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairpersonship of the District Magistrate. Senior officials of the Electricity Department briefed her on the current supply situation and the damage reported in rural and urban areas.
The District Magistrate directed officials to identify all broken electricity poles and damaged power lines and ensure their repair on priority. Teams should be dispatched immediately to affected locations and electricity supply restored at the earliest, she said.
Niranjan warned that negligence in maintaining the power supply system would not be tolerated. Officials were instructed to regularly inspect their respective areas and ensure time-bound resolution of electricity-related complaints. Additional manpower and resources should be deployed wherever required to accelerate restoration work and minimise inconvenience to residents.
Officials also appealed to the public not to attempt to repair damaged electrical poles or lines themselves. If a pole has fallen, wires have been damaged or any other electricity-related problem occurs in a village, market or other area, residents should immediately contact the concerned electricity department officials or the nearest power house.
They cautioned that touching damaged wires or attempting repairs could result in serious accidents or loss of life. Residents were advised to maintain a safe distance from damaged electrical infrastructure until departmental teams arrive.
The District Magistrate directed the Electricity Department to give the highest priority to public safety and operate the power system with urgency and sensitivity.
The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, Electricity, Gonda; Executive Engineers of Electricity Distribution divisions in Gonda, Colonelganj, Mankapur and Nawabganj; and other concerned officials.
