Zero Tolerance on Crime: Lucknow Police District-Ban History-Sheeter

Lucknow: In a significant action aimed at curbing crime and maintaining public order, the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) Police in Lucknow Commissionerate have externed a declared history-sheeter from the district for six months under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Goonda Control Act, 1970.

The action was carried out in compliance with an order issued by the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime & Headquarters), Lucknow, under Case No. 63(40)/2026, State vs. Anuj Singh. The externment order was passed on July 3, 2026, under Section 3 of the Act.

The accused, Anuj Singh (30), son of the late Pramod Singh and a resident of Indaurabagh village under BKT police station limits, was formally informed of the court’s order by the police. Officials also made a public announcement through a loudspeaker at his residence, informing local residents about the externment order and the legal action being taken.

Following the formalities, the police escorted the accused under custody to the Lucknow–Sitapur district border, where he was officially expelled from the territorial limits of Lucknow district. Public announcements were again made at the district border to inform people about the court’s directive and the enforcement action.

Police instructed Anuj Singh not to enter the limits of Lucknow district for the next six months. He was warned that any violation of the externment order would invite stringent legal action in accordance with the law.

According to the police, Anuj Singh has an extensive criminal record with multiple cases registered against him at BKT, Madeyganj and Mahigawan police stations between 2020 and 2025. The charges include rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, attempted murder, extortion, criminal conspiracy, offences under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the Explosive Substances Act, the Criminal Law Amendment Act, the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Lucknow Commissionerate stated that the externment is part of its ongoing campaign against habitual offenders and organised criminal elements. Police said such preventive measures are intended to strengthen law and order, deter criminal activity and ensure the safety and security of residents across the city.

The operation was executed successfully by the BKT Police Station team under the directions of senior officers.
