Yoga Day activities light up Amrit Sarovars

Lucknow: On the occasion of the tenth International Yoga Day, villagers performed yoga at MNREGA workplaces, Amrit Sarovars and playgrounds in rural areas. People participated enthusiastically in the programs organized on International Yoga Day. On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister  Keshav Prasad Maurya, the International Yoga Day program was celebrated at Amrit Sarovars in the state. There is an effort to develop the area around the Sarovars as a hub of rural tourism. On Friday, farmers and MNREGA laborers in rural areas across the state have given the message of staying healthy by doing yoga at Amrit Sarovars.

Instructions were also given by Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Headquarters to organize a yoga practice program in a large and grand manner for the 10th International Yoga Day, along with this, instructions were also issued to make the general public participate in the yoga practice program in maximum numbers.

Commissioner, Rural Development  G.S. Priyadarshi told that the purpose of practicing yoga at Amrit Sarovars is to inspire people towards yoga and give the message of staying healthy and fit, as well as to promote natural beauty by conserving rainwater and to make the general public aware about environment and water conservation. In view of Yoga Day, rural people were inspired to practice yoga with natural feel at Amrit Sarovars. Asanas, Pranayam, meditation and yoga were organized in the villages of Gram Panchayats.
