Women Welfare Department and DLSA Organize Enrollment and Self-Reliance Programme in Bareilly

Bareilly: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and economic self-reliance, the Women Welfare Department and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) jointly organized a large-scale “Enrollment Campaign and Skill Enhancement Programme” in Bareilly. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of women associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).

The programme was designed to create awareness among women about their legal rights while simultaneously connecting them with employment-oriented activities, vocational training opportunities, and self-employment schemes. Organizers emphasized that empowering women through knowledge, skills, and livelihood opportunities is essential for ensuring their social and economic advancement.

As part of the special enrollment campaign, participants were linked on the spot with various work groups, self-help initiatives, and self-employment schemes. The objective was to enable women to begin income-generating activities immediately after completing relevant training programmes.

Addressing the gathering, representatives of the District Legal Services Authority, including para-legal volunteers, provided detailed information about women’s legal rights, protection against domestic violence, and the availability of free legal aid services. They encouraged women to seek legal assistance whenever required and to remain aware of the protections available under the law.

Speaking on behalf of the Women Welfare Department, Rinki Saini highlighted several government welfare schemes designed to support women and children. These included the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Destitute Women Pension Scheme for Widows, One Stop Centre Services, and the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana, among others.

“Today’s enrollment campaign is not merely an event; it is a concrete effort to help women associated with the livelihood mission become financially independent and stand on their own feet,” she said.

The programme was attended by Rinki Saini, District Mission Coordinator, Harvinder Kaur, Shareen, Gender Specialist, and officials associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission and the District Rural Development Institute (Bhojipura), including Sanjeev Gangwar, Pooja Singh, Darshana Rani, Gurvinder Kaur, Manju Sharma, Ramendra Gangwar, and Tilak Maurya.

Representatives from the District Legal Services Authority, including Shoaib Ali Khan, Jwala Dev, Sadhana, and several para-legal volunteers, were also present. A large number of women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) participated in the programme and benefited from the information and opportunities provided.

The initiative underscored the commitment of both the Women Welfare Department and DLSA to strengthening women’s legal awareness, enhancing livelihood opportunities, and promoting inclusive socio-economic development across the district.
