Lucknow/Kheri: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered an alleged cyber fraud network that targeted people by promising benefits under government welfare schemes and opportunities to earn easy money. Four members of the suspected racket have been arrested.
The arrested accused have been identified as Abhishek Verma, Neeraj Verma, Ravi Deep Kumar and Aadesh Verma. According to the STF, a Morpho fingerprint scanner, ATM cards of multiple banks, documents and other electronic evidence were recovered from their possession during the operation.
The arrests were made in the Kotwali Sadar police station area of Kheri district following an investigation by the STF.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly lured people with promises of securing benefits under government schemes or helping them earn additional income. Police claim the suspects used the victims’ identities to activate SIM cards and subsequently created UPI IDs linked to those numbers. The UPI accounts were then allegedly used to carry out cyber fraud through various gaming applications and online platforms.

The STF described the operation as the exposure of an organised cybercrime network engaged in identity misuse and digital financial fraud.
A case has been registered against the accused at Kotwali Sadar Police Station in Kheri under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation and legal proceedings are being carried out by the local police to identify additional beneficiaries and possible links to wider cybercrime operations.
