Lucknow: The Government Railway Police (GRP) Charbagh and the Railway Police Surveillance Team have been honoured with commendation certificates by Director General of Railway Police Prakash D for successfully rescuing a five-month-old infant who was abducted from Lucknow’s Charbagh Railway Station.
The recognition was presented during a ceremony held at the GRP Headquarters in Lucknow, where the Director General commended the officers for their prompt investigation and coordinated efforts that led to the child’s safe recovery.
According to the Railway Police, the infant was allegedly abducted by an unidentified woman from Platforms 8 and 9 of Charbagh Railway Station on June 16, 2026. Following a complaint lodged by the child’s family, an FIR was registered at the GRP Charbagh Police Station, and a special investigation was launched.
Given the seriousness of the case, a joint team comprising personnel from GRP Charbagh and the Surveillance Unit was constituted. Investigators reviewed footage from more than 400 CCTV cameras, analysed technical evidence and activated their network of informants to trace the suspect.

Based on a tip-off, the joint team conducted an operation on July 5, successfully rescuing the infant unharmed and arresting the woman accused in the kidnapping case.
Commending the team’s dedication and professionalism, Director General of Railway Police Prakash D presented commendation certificates to the officers, recognising their exemplary investigative work and swift action in ensuring the safe recovery of the child.
