Washington: The United States’ Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, has embarked on an Indo-Pacific tour, during which she is also scheduled to visit India. She recently announced her itinerary, which includes stops in Japan, Thailand, and India.
Meeting with PM Modi
In February, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United States, where he met several key leaders, including President Donald Trump. During this visit, PM Modi also had a meeting with Tulsi Gabbard. Following Modi’s U.S. trip, Gabbard is now set to visit India as part of her Indo-Pacific engagements.
Gabbard commenced her tour from Honolulu, the capital of the U.S. island state of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. There, she is scheduled to meet intelligence community members, leaders of the Indo-Pacific Command, and training military personnel.
Who is Tulsi Gabbard?
Tulsi Gabbard, 43, is a veteran of the Iraq War, having served three deployments in combat zones across Africa and the Middle East. Initially a Democrat, she left the party in October 2022 and later joined the Republican Party in 2024.
Gabbard was the first Hindu elected to the U.S. Congress, though she has no ancestral ties to India. Due to her religious affiliation, she is often mistakenly believed to be of Indian origin.
