Three Arrested in Shahjahanpur for Alleged Stolen Motorcycle Racket, Seven Bikes Recovered

Shahjahanpur: Mirzapur Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district have busted an alleged motorcycle theft and resale racket, arresting three suspects and recovering seven stolen motorcycles during a vehicle-checking operation.

The action was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit, with supervision from the Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) and the Circle Officer of Jalalabad as part of an ongoing campaign against vehicle theft and organised crime.

According to police, the arrests were made on July 13 after officers received information that three men were attempting to sell stolen motorcycles near the Government School turn in Bahariya village. Acting on the tip-off, the police team laid a trap and apprehended the suspects.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shadab, son of Shamshad and a resident of Bahariya village; Shawab, son of Shamshad and also a resident of Bahariya; and Shivam, son of Jitendra Yadav and a resident of Bharatapur village.

Police said they recovered seven motorcycles, including models such as the Hero Splendor, Super Splendor, Hero HF Deluxe, Hero Honda and Yamaha FZ. Several of the recovered vehicles were found with missing or altered registration plates.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly told investigators that they purchased stolen motorcycles at low prices from a person in the Kalan area, repaired the vehicles, changed their number plates and then sold them at higher prices for profit. Police are now working to identify other members of the alleged network and trace the source of the stolen motorcycles.

A case has been registered at Mirzapur Police Station under Case Crime No. 148/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further legal proceedings and investigation are underway.

The operation was conducted by a police team comprising Senior Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar, Sub-Inspector Bunty Kumar, Head Constables Dharmendra Singh, Mohd. Ismail, and Santosh Kumar.
