Lucknow: The Bazaar Khala Police in Lucknow carried out a major raid on an alleged hookah bar, seizing hookah equipment and detaining two individuals, including the establishment’s operator, in a crackdown on the illegal operation of such outlets.
According to police, the raid was conducted as part of an ongoing drive against unauthorised hookah bars operating in the Bazaar Khala area. During the operation, officers recovered six hookahs along with flavoured tobacco products from the premises.
Police said the hookah bar operator and a young man present at the establishment were taken into custody for questioning. Further legal action is being initiated in accordance with applicable laws.
Officials stated that the crackdown is aimed at curbing the illegal operation of hookah bars and preventing young people from developing addiction to hookah smoking. Police added that such enforcement drives will continue to ensure compliance with public safety and tobacco-related regulations.
The action has reportedly created concern among other hookah bar operators in the area, with authorities warning that strict measures will be taken against establishments found violating the law.
