Lucknow: UP Digital Media Policy 2024 was approved in the cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under this policy, social media influencers will be given money to advertise the schemes of the state government. Along with this, there is also a provision for legal action for posting indecent or anti-national posts.

Principal Secretary of Information Department Sanjay Prasad said that the state government will prepare a list of agencies and influencers to promote its policies through content, tweets, videos and reels. These influencers will promote the schemes and achievements of the state government on social media platforms like X, Facebook and Instagram.
The Principal Secretary said that after getting the approval of the cabinet, this policy will be able to provide employment to the people of the state living outside UP, even abroad. For this work, the Information Department has divided the influencers and agencies into four categories on the basis of their follower count.
Salary up to Rs 8 lakh per month
This policy states that according to the category, influencers of X, Facebook and Instagram will be given up to Rs 5 lakh, four lakh, three lakh and 2 lakh per month for advertising the state government. At the same time, 8 lakh, 7 lakh, 6 lakh and 4 lakh rupees will be given per month for advertising the government through videos, shorts and podcasts on YouTube.
Provision for legal action also
Along with this, there is also a provision for legal action against agencies and firms in the policy. If the concerned agencies or influencers upload any objectionable content on platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube, then legal action will be taken against them as per the rules. In no case should the content be indecent, obscene or anti-national.
