Mumbai: Actor and producer Saqib Saleem has revealed that he chose not to take any remuneration for his latest film Baby Do Die Do, prioritising the film’s creative vision over financial gain. According to Saleem, the decision was driven by a desire to ensure that more resources could be invested directly into the production.
Produced under the banner of Saleem Siblings, Baby Do Die Do marks an ambitious independent venture that was largely self-funded. Speaking about the project, Saleem said the goal was never to maximise profits but to create a story that deserved to be told.
He also disclosed that neither co-star Huma Qureshi nor director Nachiket Samant accepted salaries for the film, allowing a greater share of the budget to be channelled into production and storytelling.
The film brings together an accomplished ensemble cast, including Chunky Panday, Seema Pahwa and Sikander Kher. Saleem emphasised the importance of established artists supporting promising and unconventional projects, saying that meaningful cinema can thrive only when creative communities come together.

The producer also reflected on the challenges of mounting an independent film within a tight schedule. With a commitment to begin production within just two weeks, the team worked intensively to secure funding, organise logistics and bring the project to life. Saleem described the journey as one fuelled by determination, personal investment and unwavering belief in the film.
Despite acknowledging the odds faced by independent productions, Saleem remains optimistic about the film’s future. He views Baby Do Die Do as an opportunity to carve out space for distinctive storytelling in mainstream cinema, expressing confidence that even a small breakthrough can open doors to larger possibilities.
Released in theatres on July 3, 2026, Baby Do Die Do represents a bold creative experiment driven by conviction, collaboration and a commitment to meaningful filmmaking.
