Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated that Israel is prepared to intensify its security operations in the occupied West Bank, signalling a tougher approach amid rising tensions and ongoing military raids across the territory.
Speaking to reporters, Netanyahu said Israeli security forces had been instructed to conduct searches in villages, seize illegal weapons and carry out arrests as part of efforts to counter what the government describes as militant activity. He said Israel was prepared to undertake broader operations against what it called “terrorist infrastructure” while strengthening security measures across the region.
The remarks come as Israeli military operations continue in several parts of the West Bank, where raids and confrontations have become increasingly frequent. Reports have also emerged of attacks involving Israeli settlers in some areas, adding to concerns over the deteriorating security situation.
On the Palestinian side, rights activists have voiced growing concern over conditions in the occupied territory. Issa Amro, founder of the advocacy group Youth Against Settlements, said Palestinian communities continue to face violence and insecurity on a daily basis.
According to Amro, attacks and confrontations have increased significantly in recent months, with residents often finding themselves vulnerable while attempting to protect their homes, families and property. He alleged that some Palestinians have been detained after trying to defend themselves during such incidents.
Amro further claimed that sustained insecurity has forced more than 20 Palestinian communities to leave their villages in recent years, with hundreds of families reportedly abandoning their homes and farmland. He described the situation as a severe humanitarian concern, though Israeli authorities have rejected similar allegations in the past.
The latest developments underscore the fragile security environment in the West Bank, where military operations, settler-related violence and longstanding political disputes continue to fuel instability. International observers have repeatedly called for restraint from all sides and renewed efforts to reduce tensions and protect civilians.
