Positive Psychology Lecture Held at Saraswati Devi Nari Gyansthali PG College in Gonda

Gonda: The Department of Psychology at Saraswati Devi Nari Gyansthali PG College, Gonda, organised a lecture on “Positive Psychology” to introduce students to the practical aspects of psychology and encourage them to develop a constructive approach towards life.

The programme began with the ceremonial garlanding of the idol of Goddess Saraswati and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Dr Mamta Sharma, Head of the Department of Psychology at LBS PG College, Gonda.

During the programme, students of the Psychology Department presented their views on various themes associated with positive psychology, including hope, inner strengths, forgiveness, compassion, gratitude and positive thinking. The presentations highlighted the practical relevance of psychological concepts in everyday life.

College Manager Dr Anandita Raj honoured Dr Mamta Sharma with a bouquet and a memento. Addressing the students, Dr Sharma spoke about the importance of positive psychology and emphasised the role of action and faith in life. She also advised students to remain free from excessive ego or the “I factor” and focus on personal growth and constructive thinking.

A total of 14 students participated in the competition organised as part of the programme. Shreya Mishra secured first place, Yashi Srivastava stood second, while Kaneez Fatima won the third position. The winners were presented certificates and mementoes by the judging panel comprising Dr Mamta Sharma and Dr Seema Srivastava.

The programme was conceptualised by Kanchanlata Pandey of the Psychology Department and was given a practical orientation with the support of department faculty members Dr Sadhana Gupta and Dr Vimla.

In her address, Dr Seema Srivastava said that adopting a positive lifestyle can make life happier, more balanced and easier to navigate. She encouraged students to cultivate positive attitudes and apply psychological principles in their daily lives.

The programme concluded with the singing of the Gyansthali song followed by the National Anthem.

Among those present were Ranjana Bandhu, Dr Harpreet Kaur, Dr Mousumi Singh, Dr Neetu Singh, Dr Amita Srivastava, Anu Upadhyay, Sunita Mishra and other faculty members and students.
