Lucknow: In a significant operation, the Ghazipur Police in Lucknow arrested Madhulika Sharma, an accused absconding since 2023, in connection with a case involving letterhead theft, fraud, and forgery to usurp valuable property.
Background of the Case
On January 14, 2023, Rajat Garg, a resident of B-13, Indira Nagar, Lucknow, filed a formal complaint at Ghazipur Police Station. Garg alleged that Madhulika Sharma had committed fraud and forgery using the letterheads of his mother Savita Garg’s firms, Fast Builders and Lekhraj Builders.
As per the complaint, the accused allegedly stole the firms’ letterheads and created forged documents by forging signatures. These documents included a possession letter dated February 6, 2007, and a no-objection certificate (NOC) dated January 2, 2009, which were subsequently used to claim ownership of the complainant’s property.
Garg asserted that these documents were fabricated, but Madhulika Sharma claimed them to be genuine and attempted to seize the property using these falsified papers. Based on this, an FIR (No. 296/23) was registered against her under several sections of the Indian Penal Code:

On January 18, 2025, acting on a tip-off, the police learned that the accused was residing on rent at D-64, Harihar Nagar, Indira Nagar, Lucknow. A police team promptly raided the location and successfully detained Madhulika Sharma. During interrogation, she admitted to staying at the said address and revealed her intentions to fraudulently acquire the complainant’s valuable property.
