Lucknow: A massive statewide National Lok Adalat was organised across Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the disposal of more than 1.18 crore cases, providing speedy and affordable justice to lakhs of people.
The National Lok Adalat was held under the aegis of Surya Kant, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Chief Patron of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), and Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court and Executive Chairman of NALSA.
The programme in Uttar Pradesh was conducted under the guidance of Arun Bhansali, Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and Chief Patron of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, along with the direction of Mahesh Chandra Tripathi, Senior Judge of the Allahabad High Court and Executive Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
According to Santosh Kumar II, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, district legal services authorities across the state reported that by 6 pm, a total of 1,18,23,566 cases had been resolved.

The disposed cases included 1,10,32,353 pre-litigation matters and 7,91,213 pending court cases. Officials stated that the figures were based on reports received from district legal services authorities and that the final consolidated number of disposed pre-litigation and pending cases is still awaited.
The National Lok Adalat witnessed large public participation throughout the state, with courts and legal services authorities focusing on amicable settlements through dialogue and mutual agreement. The initiative aimed at reducing litigation burden while ensuring quicker access to justice for citizens.
The large-scale disposal of cases once again highlighted the growing effectiveness of Lok Adalats as an important mechanism for delivering speedy, cost-effective, and accessible justice across Uttar Pradesh
