Nainital: Nainital Bank United Forum organized a general meeting at Harshita Garden in Haldwani regarding its main demands related to stopping disinvestment and merger of Nainital Bank with Bank of Baroda, in which a large number of officers and employees participated.
Addressing the gathering, Abhay Gupta said that the issue of disinvestment of Nainital Bank has now become nationwide. All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) have approached the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Baroda management on the issue of disinvestment of Nainital Bank.
The central leadership has urged the Nainital Bank United Forum to withdraw the strike proposed on 9 September. He further informed that if no positive response comes from Bank of Baroda and Ministry of Finance in the next fifteen-twenty days, then a nationwide strike will be called collectively by our national organizations.
Addressing the gathering, Praveen Sah informed that AIBEA General Secretary Comrade C Venkatachalam has assured that Bank of Baroda will not allow Nainital Bank to go into private hands under any circumstances and has assured to take action at UFBU level to stop the disinvestment of Nainital Bank and merge it with Bank of Baroda.
On the other hand, Piyush Payal informed that if the decision of disinvestment by Bank of Baroda is not withdrawn, then this movement will be given a more aggressive form. He informed that his central leadership will soon meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with a delegation and will hold talks to stop the disinvestment of Nainital Bank, maintain the status quo and merge the bank with Bank of Baroda.
At present, on the request of the central leadership, the meeting proposed by the Nainital Bank United Forum on 9 September is being postponed for the time being. As per the instructions of the central leadership, everyone will be informed about the further action soon.
